Jules Verne "Steampunk" version of a polyhedron sculpture. Technically, its a Icosidodecahedron (20 triangles & 12 pentagons) but I made it with 20 Tetrahedron instead (6 pieces ea). They each have a small round brass nail on the tip. The ball alone has 120 pieces of wood, all 3 axis compound mitered pieces.
The base is a tripod with brass turnings and black webbed fins with the classic Victorian scroll work.
The overall piece is about 10" tall
This was a commission piece, and usually no two are exactly alike since there are 'found pieces' in 'Steampunk' art
I will soon make a similar piece with the 12 pentagon openings filled in with amber glass and make a desk lamp / night light out of it
